Nancy Harris is a Career Development Coordinator & CTE Magnet Coordinator at John F. Kennedy High School. Throughout Nancy’s career in education, she has taught high school students in technologies and industrial systems that apply STEAM learning to manufacturing and transportation, and the built environment. She also managed technology and information systems for various industries prior to her career in education and owned and operated a specialty toy store chain for a while. Nancy earned a BS from UNC-CH in Industrial Relations, and later attended UNC-G, WSSU, and Phoenix University for her shift to a career in education. Nancy brings experience in the education industry, analytic thinking, and enthusiasm for learning.
Alana James graduated from Wake Forest University in 2009 and received her Masters in Management from the Schools of Business in 2010. She is an Ohio native but fell in love with Winston-Salem as a student while volunteering and serving at community organizations as a member of Alpha Phi Omega co-ed service fraternity. Alana served The United Way for almost seven years as the Director of Community-Based Collaborations, where she led the development and implementation of The Place Matters initiative. Alana is currently the Associate Director of Community Engagement at Wake Downtown and Wake Forest Baptist Health. Her nonprofit service includes service as a board member of Goler Community Development Corporation.
Connie Quinn is the Director of Advancement and Community Engagement for Piedmont Opera. Formerly served as Senior Vice President of Administration and Chief Market Officer for the Arts Council of Winston-Salem, as well as Director of Operations and Advancement with SECCA Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art.
Her scope of work includes grant research and writing, board development, donor cultivation, corporate partnership management, and coordinating and driving all fundraising efforts.
Andy Brewer is the creator, producer, and host of the Healthcare Insights of Northwest North Carolina podcast and an Instructional Technologist at Wake Forest Baptist Health.
Andy has developed automated processes expertise and web technology expertise during his career. Andy’s previous board experience is on sports-related boards.
Matteo Blanc is a Technical Sales Manager for Raytheon Technologies, an aerospace company located in Winston Salem. Matteo earned an MBA from Wake Forest and a BS in Engineering from The Rochester Institute of Technology. He has experience in public service with the United Way and is looking to get more involved with the nonprofit sector.
Gabe Higgins can be found planning some of the most interesting and unique entertainment-focused ventures in our city. He has 20 years of experience in marketing strategy and business development and is an account manager at Vertical Axion, a marketing and business strategy company.
Adrian Smith is the Executive Director of The Flywheel Foundation and is highly active in the Triad Entrepreneurial Ecosystem. Adrian was a Program Director at Mixxer from Jan – Dec. 2019. Adrian is focused on using his education and life experiences to improve the lives of his neighbors through his work in social entrepreneurship and sustainability.
Adrian studied environmental studies at Warren Wilson College and received an MBA with a focus in entrepreneurial finance from CU Boulder.
