Board Chair

Alana James

Alana James graduated from Wake Forest University in 2009 and received her Masters in Management from the Schools of Business in 2010.   Alana is currently the Associate Director of Community Engagement at Wake Downtown and Wake Forest Baptist Health. Her nonprofit service includes service as a board member of Goler Community Development Corporation.

Dawn Fleurizard

Dawn Fleurizard is a process engineering/program manager expert, with 20+ years of industry experience with complex process manufacturing. Dawn has an interest in Winston-Salem being a science-literate community and uses her position on the board of Mixxer to make an impact.

Adrian Smith

Adrian Smith is a founding partner of Equilibrium Impact Ventures and is highly active in the Triad Entrepreneurial Ecosystem. Adrian is focused on using his education and life experiences to improve the lives of his neighbors through his work in social entrepreneurship and sustainability.

Adrian studied environmental studies at Warren Wilson College and received an MBA with a focus in entrepreneurial finance from CU Boulder.

Gabe Higgins

Gabe Higgins can be found planning some of the most interesting and unique entertainment-focused ventures in our city. He has 20 years of experience in marketing strategy and business development and is the Entertainment Director for ROAR, a unique dining and entertainment venue in Winston-Salem.

Founding Partner, Equilibrium Impact Ventures and CEO, Bustelo Group

Kasem is a data scientist, author, speaker, equity advocate, and a three-time exited social entrepreneur.  He is currently a Founding Partner at Equilibrium Impact Ventures  Kasem is also CEO of Bustelo Group, a conglomerate of entities focused on supporting Black, brown, and women entrepreneurs through community-building, education, network amplification, and angel investment.
