Digital Studio and Flex Space updates

January 21, 2018-  The Digital Studio is operational! A donation of 3D printers from Summit School, being tuned up with brand new tools in the electronics lab. We’ve been using the laser cutter to make templates for construction projects, and members are creating their own projects with the laser cutter and 3D printers.

Thanks to a generous grant from The DataMax Foundation, and a donation from Malay Shah in honor of Parbhulal G. Shah, MIXXER members and volunteers have set in place a great Digital Studio. These funds will secure computers with design software, 3D printers, a laser cutter/engraver, electronics tools, and other related high tech tools.

January 14, 2018-. MIXXER member Bob Gusek has donated a 3D printer and will be leading a team to set up the 3D printer lab. Cook Medical has donated some very nice workbenches and chairs that nicely finish the digital lab. If you would like access to the digital studio let us know.

January 2, 2018 – .  Cook Medical is donating some very nice workbenches and chairs that will land in the digital lab, and volunteers will be building workbenches and tables to finish out the space. More updates forthcoming as this space is assembled. If you would like to be a part of setting up the digital studio let us know.

Woodworking Studio updates

February 4, 2018 – All of the woodworking equipment and lumber are now at MIXXER. The dust collection system is being installed. Managing the dust that is generated in a woodworking shop is a major safety concern. We are being allowed to set up the woodworking studio after we open, but don’t plan on using the major tools in the woodworking studio until the dust collection systems have passed inspection. Contact us for more information if you are in need of woodworking equipment for your project before we have the shop set up. We will do our best to help you find a way. More updates forthcoming as this space is assembled. If you would like to be a part of setting up the woodworking studio let us know.

January 28, 2018 – Teams of volunteers have loaded and hauled our newly acquired woodworking tools to MIXXER in 16 pick-up truckloads over five days.

January 21, 2018 – Teams of volunteers have loaded and hauled our newly acquired woodworking tools to MIXXER in 10 pick-up truckloads over three days, and there is still more!

January 14, 2018 – Teams of volunteers have loaded and hauled our newly acquired woodworking tools to MIXXER, and built storage racks in order to have a place to store a ton of woodworking equipment while we carefully place each piece in our wood shop.

January 2, 2018 – MIXXER has located a great woodworking studio that we are negotiating to purchase and move to MIXXER. Details will be forthcoming as we strike a deal with the current owner. In the meantime, we will be setting in place the tools that we do have and making arrangements to move in the new woodworking shop as soon as possible.

Metalworking Studio updates:

January 28, 2018 – MIXXER has received a few donations of tools for the metal studio, and more are on the way. We’ll be making trips to pick up some nice equipment during the first week of February.  If you would like to be a part of setting up the metal studio let us know.

January 14, 2018 – MIXXER has received a few donations of tools for the metal studio, and we are expecting more. We have been offered some great tools and will be making arrangements in the next two weeks to pick up some welding equipment and metal working tools. More updates forthcoming as things progress.
