About the event
Area Featured: Metal Shop
Minimum Age: 21 years old
Come learn how to build your very own metal fire pit during this 2 session class! This class will take you through the process of using a premade design to cut the pieces of your fire pit with our plasma cutter before welding it into the perfect fire pit! You'll start with a premade design and using the skills you learn during the class you'll add your own custom elements to make it uniquely yours.
This class consists of 2 sessions and 150 hours of studio time to work on your project and practice the skills you learn during the class. Studio hours can be used any time Mixxer is open during the month of April.
Session 1: April 5, 10:00 AM-1 PM
Session 2: April 12, 10:00 AM-1 PM
This class is part of our Making Metal: Basics of Metal Fabrication Class Series! This class series focuses on all the basic skills of metal fabrication from designing your projects to using a CNC plasma cutter to welding. You can take just a few of the classes to gain some skills or take the whole series to learn all the basics! This class is intermediate in its difficulty and will require some prior welding experience either through one of our classes or other practice elsewhere. Check out some of our other welding classes if you're new to welding to get the basics down! This class will cover the skills of CNC Plasma Cutting, and MIG Welding.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure to wear natural materials (no spandex, nylon, etc.) and long pants that cover your boots or close toed shoes. We'll provide the rest of the safety gear you'll need. Your finished project will weigh between 75 to 100 lbs. We will help you do the heavy lifting in the shop but please be prepared with a plan when you take it home.
