About the event
Come learn how to create your own 3d abstract animal sculptures with our computer controlled plasma cutter! This class will take you through the process of how to use our plasma cutter which will easily cut sheet metal into one of our pre-picked design. Once you've cut out your shapes you'll learn how to use simple sheet metal bending tools to bring your critter to life! You'll leave with your adorable critter and the knowledge you need to get started with your next metal project.
The critters you'll be able to choose from include an elephant, a bull, a deer, and an owl.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure to wear natural materials (no spandex, nylon, etc.) and long pants that cover your boots or close toed shoes. We'll provide the rest of the safety gear you'll need.
Lead by: Alan Shelton (he/him)
Alan Shelton had a dream that someday everyone living near Winston-Salem would have a place to make stuff & learn stuff, and with the help of the community, led the efforts to open Mixxer Community Makerspace, to make that dream come true. Now he is working to support the inner artist and craftsperson in everyone in our community. Alan teaches metal casting, metal fabrication and welding, basic woodworking, and supports makers learning new skills at Mixxer.
This meet up is for makers 13 years old and older. All makers ages 16 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult. Please email workshops@wsmixxer.org for any questions.
