3D printed lamp by Dakota Pahel-Short

3D Printing is one of the fastest ways to turn an idea into a physical object. These printers are being used to make scale models, tools–even prosthetic limbs! Come learn what it takes to make that possible. This two-part course will introduce students to the free software available for 3D printing and talk about best practices. In the first part of the class you’ll work at the Sawtooth Digital Arts Lab and learn how to prepare selected models for printing. In the second part, you’ll print your own model at MIXXER’s digital fabrication studio. This class is for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about 3D printing. You will be taught what programs you need to get started, what websites will be most helpful, and how to use the 3D printers at MIXXER. You’ll leave the class with your own 3D printed model, and advice on how to complete future projects you have in mind. Session A Wednesday, 1/30, 7:00pm-8:00pm, Sawtooth and Saturday, 2/2, 10:00am -11:00am, MIXXER Session B Friday, 2/22, 7:00pm-8:00pm, Sawtooth and Saturday, 2/23, 10:00am-11:00am, MIXXER please note the workshop takes place in two different locations
